Hopeful Beginnings Suffolk also aims to provide a community-focused counselling service being developed to support individuals during pregnancy, adoption, and the early stages of parenting.
This service is open to expectant parents and those with a child up to one year old, recognising that this period can bring significant emotional, physical and relational change.
Pregnancy, adoption and early parenthood are often spoken about as joyful and fulfilling. They absolutely can be. However, they can also be overwhelming, isolating, and emotionally complex. Holding both the joy and the hardship of these experiences can be confusing and anxiety-inducing.
Changes in hormones, physical wellbeing, identity, relationships, sleep, responsibility, and expectations can leave people feeling unsure of themselves, stretched beyond capacity, or struggling in ways they didn't anticipate.
Much of this is rarely spoken about openly, which can make it feel even more difficult to reach out for support.
You might seek support during this time if you are experiencing:
You don't need to be in crisis to seek support. This can simply be a space to talk, reflect and make sense of your experience.
If you are in crisis, do reach out to us and we can signpost you to people who can help, as we are not a crisis service.

Counselling will be offered on a one-to-one basis, providing a space focused on your individual experience but also aiming to make the space logistically accessible to new parents.
The intention is to create an accessible and supportive environment where you can speak openly, without judgement, and at your own pace.
This service is inclusive of all family structures and pathways into parenthood.
Hopeful Beginnings Suffolk is being developed with accessibility in mind, with the aim of offering low-cost or funded support where possible.
The intention is to reduce barriers to counselling during a time when support can be most needed, but often hardest to access. This will include providing a space where you can bring your little one with you if necessary.
